Best AI Visibility Tracking Tools, Compared

AI visibility tracking tools run your prompts on AI engines every day and report where your brand is mentioned and cited. This comparison sets 5 of them side by side: Peec AI, Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, Otterly.AI, SE Visible and Profound. Compare engines, prompt limits, refresh, citation tracking, API access and price, all checked on vendor sites in September 2026.

This page compares software. The metrics these tools report, and how to track them by hand, are explained on the AI visibility guide. Disclosure: Bikash has used only the Semrush tracker first-hand; no paid placements, no affiliate links.

Which AI visibility tracking tools are compared here?

This comparison covers 5 AI visibility tracking tools: Peec AI, Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, Otterly.AI, SE Visible and Profound. Each appears in at least 3 of the 5 top-ranking "best tools" lists for this query, and each vendor publishes its engines and plans.

5 AI visibility tracking tools on 11 attributes. Checked on vendor sites, 25 September 2026. "See vendor site" marks a value the vendor did not publish in a form that could be confirmed on that date.

The grid shows one pattern at once: every tool refreshes daily, so the choice turns on engines, prompt allowance and what data can leave the tool.

The 5 tools were chosen by a fixed rule, not by preference. The top 5 organic results for “best AI visibility tracking tools” were read on 25 September 2026, and every tool named in at least 3 of those 5 lists made the cut:

  • Peec AI, named in all 5 lists.
  • Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, named in 4.
  • Otterly.AI, named in 4.
  • SE Visible by SE Ranking, named in 3.
  • Profound, named in 3.

Also listed by competitors, not assessed here: Ahrefs Brand Radar, ZipTie, Scrunch and Rankscale. They fell below the 3-list threshold on the date checked, and no attribute of theirs appears on this page.

An AI visibility tool is software that runs a set of prompts on AI engines on a schedule and reports which brands the answers mention and which sites they cite. A prompt is the question the tool types into the engine. The prompt limit is how many of those questions a plan allows. The engines are the AI products queried: Google AI Overviews (the summary above Google results), Google AI Mode (Google’s conversational search tab), ChatGPT (OpenAI’s assistant), Perplexity (an answer engine that numbers its sources), Gemini (Google’s standalone assistant), Microsoft Copilot (grounded in Bing) and Claude (Anthropic’s assistant).

How do the 5 tools compare on engines, prompts, refresh and price?

The 5 tools differ most on engines and prompt allowance, not on refresh: all refresh prompt results daily. Entry prices run from $29 a month (Otterly Lite, 15 prompts) to custom Enterprise pricing (Profound), and engine coverage ranges from 2 to 9 engines.

Refresh frequency is how often a tool re-runs the prompts and updates its reports. Peec AI tracks “position, sentiment, and share of voice” daily; Semrush updates Prompt Tracking daily and Brand Performance weekly; Otterly lists “Daily Tracking” on every plan; SE Visible and Profound refresh daily. A daily refresh is now the floor in this category, so it separates nothing.

Engine coverage separates a great deal. Semrush’s documentation names 2 engines, ChatGPT and Google AI Mode. Otterly includes 4 and sells 3 more as add-ons. SE Visible includes 5 and lists Claude as coming soon. Profound covers 9 on Enterprise, including DeepSeek and Exa Search, which no other tool here names. Filter the table below by engine to see which tools include it, sell it as an add-on or leave it out.

ChatGPT is the one engine every tool covers. Copilot and Claude are the thinnest: among confirmed values, only Otterly includes Copilot on a self-serve plan, and no confirmed entry plan includes Claude without an add-on.

Prompt allowance is the third axis. The entry plans span 15 prompts (Otterly Lite), 25 (Semrush), 50 (Profound’s trial) and 200 (SE Visible Basic). SE Visible counts each added prompt once, not once per engine, which makes its allowance larger than the raw number suggests. The cost section below turns price, prompts and engines into one comparable figure.

How were the tools assessed?

Each tool was assessed from its vendor's own pricing and documentation pages on 25 September 2026. Bikash has first-hand use of the Semrush AI visibility tracker only; the other 4 tools were not tested, and no vendor paid for inclusion.

Every cell in the grid comes from a page the vendor publishes: a pricing page, a help-centre article or a product page, listed under Sources at the end. Where a value appeared only in a third-party list, a search snippet or a vendor blog post that disagreed with the vendor’s own pricing page, the vendor page won. Where no vendor page confirmed a value on the check date, the cell says “See vendor site” rather than repeating an unconfirmed number. Peec AI published a pricing update on the check date itself, and its pricing page did not display amounts, so its price and prompt cells are marked that way.

The page gives no scores, stars or rankings. A rating would imply a test, and 4 of the 5 tools were not tested. The “suits” line under each tool follows from its published plans, not from use.

Vendor prices in this category change often. Every price below carries the date it was read, and the grid caption changes each time the cells are re-checked.

Which AI visibility tool fits which buyer?

Otterly.AI fits a small budget, SE Visible fits high prompt volume, Semrush fits existing Semrush users, Peec AI fits teams that want an API and MCP access, and Profound fits enterprises tracking 9 engines. Each fit follows from the vendor's published plans.

Each profile below lists the same 6 attributes in the same order, so any two tools can be read side by side.

Peec AI

Peec AI sells 4 tiers — Starter, Pro, Advanced and Enterprise — with monthly or annual billing. It published a pricing update titled “More value for everyone” on 25 September 2026, the day of this check.

The data-access list is Peec AI’s distinguishing feature. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI assistant query another application directly, so an analyst can ask an assistant about the tracked data without exporting it first. Together with the API and the CSV exports, it means the raw results can leave the tool in 3 ways.

Suits: teams that want to pull tracking data into their own reports, dashboards or AI assistants rather than read it inside one interface.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month for 25 prompts, with 50 more prompts available for $60 a month. It sits inside the wider Semrush platform and has no free trial.

Semrush reports 4 presence measures separately, so a mention without a link and a link without a mention show as different numbers. Semrush also shows a 0–100 AI Visibility score, which is Semrush’s own composite, not a figure any engine publishes. Brand Performance runs a broad set of common queries rather than the user’s own prompts, which is why it refreshes weekly while Prompt Tracking refreshes daily.

First-hand note: this is the one tool on the page that Bikash uses, as part of a daily working set that also includes Google Search Console, GA4 and Screaming Frog. That use is everyday work, not a controlled test, so no performance results from it are reported here, and the attributes above come from Semrush’s documentation like every other tool’s.

Suits: teams already paying for Semrush who track ChatGPT and AI Mode and want AI visibility beside their classic SEO data.

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI has the lowest published entry price in this comparison: $29 a month for 15 prompts on the Lite plan. Standard costs $189 a month for 100 prompts, and Premium covers 400 prompts at a price shown on the vendor site.

Otterly is the only tool here that includes Microsoft Copilot on a self-serve plan, and it supports “Multi-country support (65+)”. Its add-on model means the entry price covers 4 engines; adding AI Mode, Gemini or Claude raises the monthly cost, so price the full engine list before comparing it with a tool that includes those engines.

Suits: small teams and consultants starting with a short prompt set on a small budget, especially those who need Copilot or tracking outside one country.

SE Visible

SE Visible is SE Ranking’s AI visibility product. Its homepage listed 3 plans on 25 September 2026: Basic at $99 a month for 200 prompts, Core at $189 for 450 and Plus at $355 for 1,000.

A blog post on SE Visible’s own site listed different tiers (a 150-prompt Starter plan and a 1,500-prompt Max plan). The homepage figures are used here because the homepage is the vendor’s main plan listing; check the current plans on the vendor site before buying.

Suits: agencies and in-house teams that need hundreds of prompts across the main Google and OpenAI engines at a published price.

Profound

Profound publishes 2 options: a free 7-day trial and a custom-priced Enterprise plan. The trial covers 50 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, in 1 language and 1 region, without API access or export.

Profound’s 9 engines are the widest coverage in this comparison, and DeepSeek and Exa Search appear on no other tool’s list. The trade-off is transparency of cost: with no published Enterprise price, the per-prompt figure cannot be calculated before a sales call.

Suits: large brands that need every major engine, including DeepSeek, and can run a procurement process.

What does one tracked prompt cost in each tool?

One tracked prompt costs between $0.10 and $1.98 per engine per month across the 3 tools with fully published prices. SE Visible Basic costs $0.10, Otterly Lite $0.48 and Semrush $1.98; Peec AI and Profound publish no comparable figure.

Monthly prices are hard to compare when one plan buys 15 prompts on 4 engines and another 200 prompts on 5. Dividing the price by every prompt-and-engine pair gives one unit cost.

Formula: cost per prompt per engine = monthly price ÷ (prompts × included engines). Only included engines count; Otterly’s paid add-ons would change its figure once bought.

The unit cost falls by a factor of about 20 from Semrush’s entry plan to SE Visible’s. That gap is not a verdict on value: Semrush’s price includes access to a wider SEO platform, and a lower unit cost matters only if the extra prompts and engines are ones the buyer would track anyway. Use the figure to compare like with like, then weigh engines and data access separately.

Do AI visibility tools track citations separately from mentions?

Yes: 4 of the 5 tools report cited sources separately from brand mentions. Semrush lists Mentions and Citations as separate metrics, Peec AI classifies sources down to the URL, Otterly runs Link Citations Analysis, and SE Visible reports top-cited URLs. Profound's separate report was not confirmed.

A mention is the brand’s name in the answer text; a citation is a link to a page on the brand’s domain. The two move independently, so a tool that blends them hides whether the engine trusts the brand’s name, its pages, or both.

  • Semrush reports Mentions, Citations, Cited Sources and Cited Pages as 4 separate metrics.
  • Peec AI classifies each source and opens a domain and URL detail view.
  • Otterly.AI pairs Brand Reports with a separate Link Citations Analysis on every plan.
  • SE Visible reports brand mentions and, apart from them, “top-cited sources and key URLs”, with sentiment.
  • Profound names citations on its pricing page; whether they form a separate report was not confirmed on the check date.

Citation tracking is also what shows which competitor pages the engines prefer. A list of the URLs cited for a prompt, including other brands’ pages, is the starting point for deciding which of your own pages to rewrite.

Which AI visibility tools offer an API or data export?

Peec AI, Otterly.AI and SE Visible include an API; Profound includes one on Enterprise only. Semrush's toolkit exports CSV files of up to 1,000 rows, 10 exports a day. Peec AI also offers an MCP server and a Data Studio connector.

An API is an interface that lets other software request the tool’s data directly; CSV export produces a spreadsheet file a person downloads. Either one matters for the same reason: it lets the numbers be checked against raw answers and combined with Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools or GA4 data.

  • Peec AI: API, MCP, custom CSV exports and a Data Studio connector.
  • Otterly.AI: API with 2,000 requests a month on Lite and 5,000 on Standard; reports and export on all plans.
  • SE Visible: an API covering everything in the interface except user and subscription management; CSV.
  • Profound: CSV, JSON and API on Enterprise; none on the trial.
  • Semrush: CSV export capped at 1,000 rows per export and 10 exports per user per day; API access for the toolkit: see vendor site.

Row caps matter at scale. At 1,000 rows per file, a year of daily results for a large prompt set takes many exports, so a buyer who needs full history outside the tool should confirm the export route before subscribing.

What can an AI visibility tool not show?

An AI visibility tool cannot show how an engine chose its sources, only what one sampled answer contained. Google states that no third-party tool has access to its internal ranking or AI systems, and repeated runs of one prompt return different answers.

Every tool on this page stands outside the engine. It sends a prompt, reads the answer that comes back and records what it sees. Google’s AI optimization guide is direct about the limit: “No third-party tool has access to our internal ranking or AI systems.” The same holds for OpenAI, Perplexity, Microsoft and Anthropic, none of which gives trackers a view of their retrieval or ranking.

Sampling adds a second limit. The same prompt can return a different answer, with different sources, minutes later; a 2026 survey of 45 GEO studies reports substantial run-to-run variability. A tool that runs each prompt once per day records one draw from a changing distribution. Daily refresh helps trends appear, but a single day’s movement is often noise.

Run conditions add a third. An engine queried through its API can answer differently from the consumer interface, and a logged-in session with history can answer differently from an anonymous one. Location and language change answers too. Vendors do not all publish these conditions, which is why they appear in the buyer questions below.

The practical rule: treat tool figures as trends in a sample, and treat Search Console’s and Bing Webmaster Tools’ first-party figures as the reference for their own engines.

A tool automates the logging. The prompt set and the reading of the numbers stay with the person running it.

Can AI visibility be tracked without a paid tool?

Yes. A fixed prompt set, a spreadsheet and a weekly schedule track AI visibility by hand. Manual tracking covers mentions, citations and share of model; it stops scaling once one person cannot re-run every prompt on every engine each week.

The manual route has one advantage no tool matches: every logged answer is read by a person, so nothing is hidden inside a vendor’s parser. The prompt set, the engines, the run conditions and the sheet columns for a tracking method without a paid tool are laid out step by step, with a free CSV template. Most buyers start there, learn which prompts matter, and buy software only when the logging hours outgrow the budget.

Questions to ask before buying an AI visibility tool

The grid answers what vendors publish. These 7 questions cover what they often leave out, and the answers decide whether a tool’s numbers can be trusted and compared over time.

  1. Which engines are included in the plan, and which are paid add-ons?
  2. How many prompts does the plan allow, and are checks counted per prompt or per engine?
  3. How often does each report refresh, and does every report use your own prompts?
  4. Does the tool report citations separately from mentions, down to the cited URL?
  5. Does it query engines through their APIs or the live interface, logged in or logged out, and from which country?
  6. How many times is each prompt run per refresh?
  7. Which data leaves the tool — API, MCP or CSV — and with what row or request limits?

Competitor tracking deserves one extra check. A tool’s share-of-voice figure depends entirely on which competitors it counts, so confirm that the competitor list can be fixed and edited before relying on its share of model reporting.

A buyer who would rather not operate a tool can start from an audit with a tracked baseline: the prompts, engines and first readings are set up once, and a tool can take over the logging later with the same prompt set.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free AI visibility tracker?

Not a permanent one among these 5. Profound offers a 7-day trial with 50 prompts on 3 engines, and SE Visible a 10-day trial. Search Console's Generative AI performance report is free but counts Google impressions, not mentions.

Which AI visibility tool does Grow AI Search use?

The Semrush AI visibility tracker. It is the only tool on this page that Bikash has used first-hand. The site's own experiments log prompts by hand in a spreadsheet, so every figure can be checked against the raw answers.
